My journey as a counselor began in 1997 when I started volunteering with an NGO supporting people in difficult situations. I realized the multitude of factors affecting people in negative ways, and how they could be overcome with proper support and guidance.

Many mental health issues arise out of excessive competition, neglected relationships, stressful home and work environments, unhealthy habits, and uncaring attitudes. I believe one needs to take therapeutic support in order to learn, make necessary lifestyle changes, cope, grow, and adapt accordingly.

Going through training and working in a corporate environment, raising twins into successful university adults, moving between continents, cultures, and families, fighting negativity, and everything that comes along with it, and supporting people going through difficult phases in their lives, has taught me some tough real life lessons and ways to help people cope with their stresses in life. We have so much in us already, that just recognizing our strengths and potential, and using it to our advantage is all we need to jump from being a survivor to becoming a winner.

I encourage the use of different wellness techniques and coping strategies like meditation, calming exercises, self-control, self-talk, knowing oneself, and connecting. Moreover, I also use therapy mediums such as art and craft, music, dance, and other activities to let go of the bad and bring out the best in people. I hope to make a difference in people’s lives as everyone has a basic right to be happy.
