How to overcome being controlled by divide and rule policies

Updated: Jul 7, 2022

Usually the person who tries to control creates a division between the people he is trying to control. He looks for ways to create hatred, jealousy, mistrust, mis-communications, and misunderstandings between them, therefore distancing them from each other.

One might wonder how does it benefit him?

He strategically aligns with each one of them separately, and initiates a further divide by creating misunderstandings between them. He ultimately gets what he wants from each one of them separately. Since, they are all divided, and have no communication amongst them, they are not able to find out the truth, falling prey to the controller. Ways to divide people is very easy for the controller. He notices how he can compare and contrast them with each other, overly praising one’s looks, living standards, possessions, etc. to create jealousy, and distance. He could also twist the truth or hide it, do favorable sweet talking, making one feel more special than the other individually to solve his motive. Such people are only sincere towards themselves and no-one else. To avoid being a part of someone’s game it is very important to stay connected, not be swayed away by sweet talks, favoritism, further reflecting and questioning the motives. How to avoid jealousy?

It is very important to understand that the universe has been very generous to bestow some or the other good quality in every person. Instead of focussing on other people’s strengths and feeling inadequate for that reason, it is very important to find your own qualities to feel good about and consequently take pride In yourself. The more confidence you build in yourself, the higher your self esteem gets, the less you will be affected by anyone or anything. It is also important to keep a fair perspective and accept others as they are, understanding that everyone is different.

Ultimately, you can train yourself to not be a prey to people’s control, divide and rule strategies.
